Sixty-four 20” Butterfly Valves in One Shipment
A recent customer order gave us the opportunity to highlight how butterfly valves are used across industrial systems.

What’s in These Crates?
The crates shown here contain sixty-four 20-inch gear-operated butterfly valves, like the largest one shown in the photo. Each valve weighs 428 pounds.
What Is a Butterfly Valve?
Butterfly valves are quarter-turn valves used to regulate or isolate the flow of liquids, gases, or slurries in a piping system. They use a circular disc mounted on a rotating shaft. When the valve is turned, the disc either blocks or allows flow through the pipe, providing quick operation and reliable flow control.
Common Uses for Butterfly Valves
Their compact design, lighter weight, and simple operation make butterfly valves a common choice for industrial systems that require reliable flow control and shutoff.
Common applications include:
- Water treatment systems
- HVAC systems
- Oil and gas pipelines
- Chemical processing facilities
- Industrial manufacturing systems
- Fire protection systems
Built for Industrial Applications
Gear-operated butterfly valves are often used in larger pipe sizes where additional control and torque are needed to operate the valve safely and smoothly.
Because of their durability and straightforward operation, they are commonly used in industrial piping systems that require dependable flow control across large volumes and demanding environments.
