Pipe Fittings have come a long Way!

The fittings that connect pipes and make them useful have evolved a lot over the last several thousand years. Since we are so dependent on them for our everyday comforts, we thought we would take a look back.

From limestone pipes hewn to fit together (from Istanbul),

To brass water taps (from Pompeii, circa 74 AD),

To cast iron flanges (from the Dreadnaught Battleship Texas, circa 1920),

To modern stainless steel flanges (present-day).

Though they have changed much, the basic functions of carrying fluids have not. Imagine life without running water?
