Why Hard Hats Are Always on Our Heads

June is Safety Awareness Month
June is Safety Awareness Month—the perfect time to highlight one of the most essential pieces of personal protective equipment (PPE): the hard hat.
At Steel Supply, we take safety seriously. Hard hats are required in our warehouses at all times—whether you're working, completing a task, or simply walking through the facility.
Why Hard Hats Matter
A hard hat is a helmet to protect the head from falling objects, impacts, and bumps. Most are made of durable, high-density polyethylene (HDPE) with an internal suspension system that helps absorb shock and deflect force.
Hard hats protect against:
- Falling objects: Tools, debris, and even small hardware can cause serious injury when dropped from a height.
- Head bumps: In tight or cluttered areas, it's easy to hit your head on low beams, piping, or equipment.
Safety Is Everyone's Job
Hard hats might seem small, but they represent something big: a shared responsibility for each other's safety. When you see our crew, you see professionals who take that responsibility seriously.
So, this Safety Awareness Month, we encourage everyone—on and off the job site—to make safety a habit, not an afterthought. Start at the top—literally—with your hard hat.
Stay safe out there.
