Meet Freddie

From Contract Driver to Lead Driver

Freddie joined the Steel Supply team in 2008, beginning as a contract driver for two years. Over time, he became an indispensable part of the team and now serves as our Lead Driver.

What He Loves About His Work

When asked what he enjoys most about working at Steel Supply, Freddie points to his coworkers—their energy and camaraderie make every day a pleasure.

Leading by Example

In his role, Freddie handles daily deliveries while also mentoring other drivers, sharing the skills and lessons he’s gained throughout his career. Most mornings, he’s the first to arrive, opening the facility, unloading trucks stored overnight, and even assisting delivery service drivers before business hours.

Moving Millions of Pounds of Steel—Safely

Reflecting on his career, Freddie marvels at the sheer volume of steel he’s transported (tens of thousands of tons). After 17 years, that adds up to well over 100 million pounds delivered. Safety is essential to Freddie, and he is proud to have delivered so much material safely.

Life Outside of Steel Supply

Outside of work, Freddie enjoys hunting and fishing. Like any fisherman, he has his share of stories—including a recent encounter with a 6-foot rattlesnake while fishing. After attempts to drive it away failed, he had to dispatch it to protect himself and others.

More Than Just a Driver

Freddie is more than just a skilled driver; he’s a mentor, leader, and valued teammate. We’re very fortunate to have him on our team.
